89689January 13, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — "J.J. Costello of CK Power in St. Louis demonstrates how to work the CK 60 D diesel generator to a group of public work employees in the Village of Palatine," notes a caption to a photo in the Chicago Tribune. Costello, a 2008 graduate of DePauw University, is seen in a story describing how Illinois communities are using U.S. Department of Homeland Security funds to buy mobile generators "for use in natural disasters, terrorist attacks or other emergencies." 84990Jeff Borgardt writes, "Illinois officials used $2 million of the state's $33 million homeland security annual allocation to buy the generators after getting complaints that too few generators have been available when storms have knocked out power, mainly in downstate areas. Host communities are allowed to use them for their own needs, as well."
