TV Anchor Rob Johnson '90 Receives 'Outstanding Advocate Award'

97650November 30, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Rob Johnson, evening news anchor at Chicago CBS affiliate WBBM-TV and 1990 graduate of DePauw University, is the recipient of the Northern Suburban Special Education District's "Outstanding Advocate Award." According to a summary of the event, "The award recognized Johnson's many presentations to area school children on respectful language and acceptance of people with disabilities." NSSED, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is "a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for students with 3464disabilities attending the 65 public schools on the north shore."

An Emmy Award-winning journalist, Rob Johnson majored in communication at DePauw. Before moving to Chicago in 1998, he worked at KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas as an anchor and reporter (1995-98). Previously, Johnson worked as the lead anchor at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas; anchor and reporter at KLFY in Lafayette, Louisiana (1992-94); and at KALB in Alexandria, Louisiana (1990-92).
