Boston's Heather Unruh '89 Receives Emmy Award

90073May 18, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Heather Unruh, evening news anchor at Boston's WCVB-TV and 1989 graduate of DePauw University, was among the winners at the 34th Boston/New England Emmy Awards. Unruh was honored for "Best Health/Science Program" for Chronicle: The Deadliest Enemy, which she reported and produced.  The regional Emmy Awards were presented on May 14.

It's the second Emmy for Unruh, who has also  received the Clarion Award from Women in Communications, Inc.; the "Grand Gracie" award from the American Women in Radio and Television for excellence in reporting; and the American Cancer Society’s Sword of Hope Award.

Heather Unruh anchors the early- and late-evening newscasts at WCVB, where she has worked since June 2001 and interned as a DePauw senior. She previously worked as early evening anchor and medical reporter 65161at KFOR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City, and also worked as a weekend anchor and medical reporter at WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Alabama. She was also an anchor, reporter, host and producer of public affairs programs at WBNG-TV and WMGC-TV in Binghamton, New York, and hosted and produced a public affairs series at WVEU-TV in Atlanta.
