March 15, 2012
Butler University's 75-58 men's basketball victory last night over Delaware was one for the record books for coach Brad Stevens. The Indianapolis Star's David Woods reports, "Stevens raised his record to 138-39 to break the NCAA record for most victories in the first five seasons as a head coach. The mark was previously held by North Carolina State's Everett Case, who was 137-29 from 1946-51."
As a result of the win, Butler (21-14) will play Penn (20-12) in a quarterfinal Monday at the Palestra in Philadelphia.
