Stan Kinsey '76 Leads After First Round of Qualifications for USGA Senior Amateur Championship

"Stan Kinsey shot a 5-under 66 on Saturday to take the first-round lead in stroke-play qualifying for the USGA Senior Amateur Championship," notes an Associated Press summary. A 1976 graduate of DePauw University, "The 58-year-old Kinsey, from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., had six birdies and one bogey on the Mountain Ridge Country Club course. The top 64 after the second round Sunday will advance to match play."

A USGA summary adds, "Kinsey, who carded six birdies and one bogey in his morning round, shot the lowest stroke-play round since 2007 and matched the second-best 18-hole qualifying score in championship history." Read more here.
A mathematics major at DePauw, Kinsey lettered in golf and played for coach Ted Katula. Kinsey is a former Walt Disney Company executive and co-founder of Iwerks Entertainment.
