Chicago Bears Acquire Punter Dave Finzer '82

August 16, 1982, Greencastle, Ind. - "The Chicago Bears have acquired punter Dave Finzer from the San Diego Chargers in return for an undisclosed draft choice, team officials announced Wednesday," begins a United Press International report. "Finzer, a 1982 graduate of DePaw University, tried out with the Bears in 1983 before joining the Chargers. He punted six times for 41.1 average in the first two games of the 1984 pre-season for San Diego."

Finzer was the punter and placekicker for the Tigers and booted a school record 52 yard field goal.  He was initially signed by the Dallas Cowboys in 1982.
