Bob Kelly '86 is Exec. Director of Facilities Operations at Oakland Community College
December 30, 2015
Robert M. Kelly, a member of DePauw University's Class of 1986, is the new executive director of facilities operations at Michigan's Oakland Community College. He comes from the state's second-largest K-through-12 district, Utica Community Schools, where he was assistant superintendent for auxiliary and support service.
In his new post, Kelly will oversee the public safety, risk management, construction, environmental health and safety, and maintenance departments for the OCC's five campuses, including over two million square feet of classroom, library, office, administrative, and common areas.
"Bob brings a level of expertise and a steady hand to help ensure our campuses are highly efficient and safe learning environments," says Peter Provenzano, vice chancellor of administrative services. "As OCC's facilities wear with age and heavy use, we need to be sure our classrooms, labs, auditoriums and grounds meet the needs and expectations of our students and community while we continue to address the financial challenges in higher education."
Kelly's resume also includes work with L’Anse Creuse Public Schools, Ford Motor Land Services and Ford Motor Company.
"I believe educational facilities and support services are there to support educators and allow them to focus on our core mission of educating students," he notes. "I am excited to take on this challenge and ensure we provide high-level services in an effective and efficient manner, so that as many resources as possible are allocated to the learning environment."
