Prof. Laura Pollom '99 Receives HS Alma Mater's Neale M. Shank Award

Laura (Hudson) Pollom, professor of communication at Concordia University Chicago and 1999 graduate of DePauw University, is the recipient of Concordia Lutheran High School's Neale M. Shank Award. Pollom is a 1995 graduate of CLHS. The award, named in honor of an alum who died while serving in Iraq, honors those younger than 40 who have made significant contributions to their given career, community, church or the high school.
A communication major and English (literature) minor at DePauw, Pollom earned a master's degree from Ball State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri.
The chair of her department, Dr. Pollom teaches organizational, team, interpersonal, family, intercultural and business communication courses. Among her research interests are interpersonal and organizational communication. She has been recognized twice with Concordia Chicago's "Faculty of the Year" award.
