Orchestra Teacher Karah Crockett '13 Leads Indiana School District's New Symphony Program

December 13, 2016

"The school corporation (in Plainfield, Indiana) has created a new symphony program headed by Karah Crockett, a recent DePauw University graduate," reports the Hendricks County Flyer. A 2013 graduate of DePauw, Crockett "travels between Plainfield Community Middle School and Plainfield High School, directing both orchestras." She had previously  been working with Indianapolis Public Schools.

"This is my fourth year teaching orchestra," Crockett, who majored in music education at DePauw, tells the newspaper. "There’s a mix of kids who have played string instruments for a while and who have never played at all. I have a girl ready to go to college for violin performance. And Newspapers 011I have beginners who have never played any instruments before. So it’s a wide range of abilities in high school and in middle school."
