Scholarship and Service of Two DePauw Students Recognized

Two DePauw University students are being recognized for their scholarship and involvement in the campus and community with Albert L. Lund '48 Scholarships for the 2017-18 academic year.  Sophomore Kyle Kopchak and junior Jordan Watt are receiving awards of $6,000 each.

The scholarship was created in 1999 by Lund, who was a Phi Delta Theta at DePauw, to reward members of his fraternity for their dedication to enhancing the University and Greencastle. Lund came to DePauw as a Rector Scholar, an award which made his college education possible. He died in 2003.

To date, 50 Lund Scholarships have been awarded, totaling more than $278,000. It is the largest Greek-based scholarship program on the DePauw campus.

"My dad's love for this University and the opportunities it has presented to young scholars for 180 years carries on through the annual recognition of Lund Scholars," stated Larry Lund '77, the son of Albert Lund, who returned to DePauw for the award presentation tonight.

Also on hand were Albert Lund's daughter, Lindsey Lund Peterik '74, and Ed Gower ’77, Scott Shewalter ’77, and Glenn Davis ‘79, who serve on the selection committee for the scholarship program. His gift is making this chapter an even stronger institution and helping DePauw students achieve their goal, which serves the University and the broader community very well."
