Filmmaker Pete Ohs '05 Returning to DePauw for April 4 Screening, Q&A

March 26, 2018

Award-winning filmmaker Pete Ohs, a 2005 graduate of DePauw University, will return to his alma mater next Wednesday, April 4, for a screening of his film, Everything Beautiful is Far Away. The movie will be shown at 4:15 p.m. in the auditorium of the Richard E. Peeler Art Center. That will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Ohs, who directed and wrote the film.

Everything Beautiful is Far Away won the U.S. Fiction Cinematography Award at the 2017 L.A. Film Festival. A synopsis notes, "This science fiction fantasy film centers on an unlikely trio: a lonely man, his robot-head companion, and a determined young woman. The three team up to navigate the harsh desert in search of a mythical lake that could be their key to survival on an otherwise barren planet."

Ohs was a computer science major and Information Technology Associate at DePauw. In 2013, he was among Filmmaker magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film" for the experimental documentary, I Send You This Place, which was an official selection of the 2012 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and the 2012 Reykjavík International Film Festival in Iceland. A music video directed by Ohs, a three-time regional Emmy® Award-winner, was named one of 2010's "50 Best" by NME.
