Bill Lynch on the Late Bill Mallory: "Everyone Absolutely Loved Him"
May 26, 2018
"Mention Bill Mallory’s name in college football circles and the same themes come up time and time again. Integrity. Respect. Toughness. Leadership. Family." An article in today's Kokomo Tribune remembers Mallory, Indiana University's winningest all-time football coach, who died Friday at age 82.
Terry Hutchens writes, "Bill Lynch was Indiana’s head football coach from 2007-10 after taking over for Terry Hoeppner, who died in 2007. Lynch, who is now the head coach at DePauw, was also an assistant coach under Mallory at Indiana in 1993 and 1994." Lynch says, "Everyone, whether it was a coach, a player, a trainer or a student manager, that was around Bill Mallory absolutely loved him. He was just phenomenal. He had great intensity, and no one was more demanding as a coach, but everybody loved him because he treated everyone with absolute respect."
Lynch adds, "He had a passion for college football that was unmatched, but the way he was with his family was truly a sight to see."
