Journalism Prof. Deborah Douglas Takes Second Place Award for Column Writing

Deborah Douglas, Eugene S. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Professor of Journalism at DePauw University, tied for second place in the Chicago Journalists Association’s  Dorothy Storck Award for column writing. Douglas was nominated for columns she wrote for the Chicago Reporter.

The award is named for Storck, who was a Chicago and syndicated newspaper columnist and Pulitzer Prize recipient.

A veteran journalist, Douglas recently won the Skin Cancer Foundation Media Award for an article she wrote for O, The Oprah Magazine.  She is treasurer of the Journalism and Women Symposium board of directors.

Professor Douglas joined the DePauw faculty this academic year.  She is a former Chicago Sun-Times editor and has been a senior leader with The OpEd Project, a global initiative dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices. Her work has also been published in Oprah magazine, TIMEAmerican Prospect and Ebony, among others.
