Exchange and Remission

Tuition Exchange

Tuition Exchange (TE) is a reciprocal scholarship program involving a consortium of more than 650 colleges and universities which agree to sponsor an established number of employee children as prospective candidates for TE scholarships at other participating institutions, while also agreeing to host an established number of students on their campuses.

Prospective TE Candidates

Incoming students who are eligible for TE based on their parent’s employment should:

  • Apply to DePauw University. Students are encouraged to apply early.

  • Complete the Tuition Exchange Application  to be approved as an export from your home institution. Students are encouraged to apply early and by January 10th.

  • Students with complete admission and tuition exchange applications will be reviewed for the tuition exchange scholarship. Award notifications will be sent starting in February. 

  • DePauw offers the TE Scholarship to approximately 60% of applicants.

  • DePauw awards the annual set rate to eligible and awarded students. 

  • The TE Scholarship supersedes any merit awards from DePauw University. 

  • Families are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • The TE Scholarship may be reduced by tuition restricted aid from the State of Indiana or other outside sources.

Current TE Students

Current students who are eligible for TE based on their parent's employment should:

  • Annually complete the Tuition Exchange Application to be approved as an export from your home institution.

  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and remain in good standing with the university.

  • The TE Scholarship supersedes any merit awards from DePauw University.

  • Families are encouraged to annually complete the FAFSA.

  • The TE Scholarship may be reduced by tuition restricted aid from the State of Indiana or other outside sources.

Great Lake Colleges Association Tuition Remission Exchange (GLCA-TRE)

The Great Lakes Colleges Association operates the GLCA-TRE (Tuition Remission Exchange) program. The thirteen colleges of the GLCA, along with a number of other colleges across the country participate in the program for a total of 19 institutions. Students eligible for tuition remission because of parental employment at one of the participating colleges may receive tuition remission at one of the other colleges in the Exchange. Prospective GLCA-TRE Candidates

Incoming students who are eligible for GLCA-TRE based on their parent’s employment should:

  • Apply  to DePauw University. Students are encouraged to apply early.

  • Complete the GLCA-TRE Notice of Eligibility Form to notify DePauw of eligibility during the application process.

  • Complete the TRE Application for Participation once your admission decision has been finalized.

  • GLCA-TRE supersedes any merit awards from DePauw University. 

  • Families are encouraged to complete the FAFSA.

  • GLCA-TRE may be reduced by tuition restricted aid from the State of Indiana or other outside sources.

Current GLCA-TRE Students

Current students who are eligible for GLCA-TRE based on their parent’s employment should:

  • Complete the TRE Application for Participation form. This form must be completed each academic year that the student is enrolled.

  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and remain in good standing with the university. 

  • GLCA-TRE supersedes any merit awards from DePauw University. 

  • Families are encouraged to annually complete the FAFSA.

  • GLCA-TRE may be reduced by tuition restricted aid from the State of Indiana or other outside sources.

Tuition Remission (TR)

DePauw University provides tuition benefits for covering tuition costs for employees, their spouses and especially their dependent children at the university.    

Prospective TR Candidates

Incoming students who are eligible for TR based on their parent’s employment at DePauw should:

  • Apply to DePauw University. Students are encouraged to apply early.

  • Complete the Dependent Tuition Remission Application Form . This form must be completed each semester that the student is enrolled.

  • TR supersedes any merit awards from DePauw University. 

  • Families are encouraged to complete the FAFSA.

  • TR may be reduced by tuition restricted aid from the State of Indiana or other outside sources.

Current TR Students

Current students who are eligible for GLCA-TRE based on their parent’s employment should:

  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and remain in good standing with the university. 

  • Complete the Dependent Tuition Remission Application Form each semester that the student is enrolled.

  • Families are encouraged to annually complete the FAFSA.

  • TR may be reduced by tuition restricted aid from the State of Indiana or other outside sources.
