Verification of Unaccompanied Minor or Homeless Status
Verification is required if you indicated on the FAFSA that you are an unaccompanied youth who is homeless or at risk of being homeless. Typically, this means that you were lacking fixed, regular and adequate housing which includes living in shelters, motels or cars, or that you were temporarily living with other people because you were not living in the physical custody of a parent or guardian and had nowhere else to go.
To verify your status, we must receive documentation as determined by a school official, a Housing and Urban Development liaison, or runaway/homeless youth center. The determination must have been made after July 1, 2015.
If the response on the FAFSA is not accurate, please correct this at www.fafsa.ed.gov, provide parent income and asset information and have a parent sign the FAFSA electronically with an FSA ID.
