DePauw Partners with Workday for Enterprise System

DePauw University is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Workday to deliver our new Enterprise Resource Planning System.  The 3.5 year implementation, which will begin in October 2023,  will encompass DePauw’s financial, human resources, and student information systems.  The decision to sign with Workday follows a robust and extensive evaluation process by many campus partners.

“The Flourishing University pillar of the Bold and Gold Strategic Plan sets a vision of our institution as one with operational excellence and fiscal stewardship.  Implementing an integrated technology approach together with best practices that work in higher education institutions will allow us to spend less time on manual processes, more time on mission-critical work, and will empower us to make data-driven decisions.  Including the student information system into this implementation will ensure that we are providing a seamless and tech-forward way for students to interact with the university.” – Andrea Young, VP for finance and administration

DePauw University will be piloting a new implementation model with Workday that is intended to make this best-in-class software platform accessible to schools of our size.

“Using this new model, DePauw University will develop best practices throughout our digital environment that scaffold a truly transformed experience across our business processes, data environment, and our students’ experience. In addition, as we launch DePauw’s own transformation, we are collaborating with peers in the higher education ecosystem to foster a community around sharing these best practices. Our goal is that these practices will both empower DePauw and provide useful frameworks for other institutions to adopt as well.” - Carol Smith ‘85, Chief Information Officer

The Workday implementation will comprise two phases.  Phase 1 is the implementation of “Platform,” which includes the business, finance, and human resources functions of the institution.   The platform implementation will begin in October 2023 and will be live by October 2024.  Phase 2 is the implementation of “Student,” which includes student information, registration, advising, and possibly financial aid.  The student implementation will begin in October 2024 and will be live by August 2026.  Ultimately, the Workday system will replace E-Services and ADP.
