Six seniors chosen for Orr fellowships

Six DePauw seniors have been chosen to join Orr Fellowship, a two-year, post-graduate program that places high-achieving students into full-time, paid jobs at companies or organizations in Indianapolis.
The seniors are Cesar Mendoza, Maya Caldwell, Isabelle Beg, Jenna Purichia, Erika Marchant, and Anthony Treadaway.
Upon their graduation, the Orr fellows will go to work for two years at innovative companies and participate in activities aimed at developing them personally and professionally, nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit and enhancing their leadership skills.
The six DePauw seniors were among 100 students offered jobs out of nearly 1,200 applicants this year.
“The Orr Fellowship program has a long history of providing DePauw graduates with a meaningful post-graduate career experience that prepares them for successful strategic roles and community leadership opportunities,” said Steven Fouty, executive director of the Hubbard Center for Student Engagement and the James W. Emison director of the McDermond Center for Management and Entrepreneurship. “The six DePauw seniors selected this year will soon embark on an impactful, two-year journey that will catapult their professional aspirations forward.”
Fouty said he is a “huge proponent of the Orr program, having worked with previous DePauw Orr fellows when I was in the business world in Indy, as well as hiring Orr fellows myself.”
DePauw alumni who previously were Orr fellows include Kate Carrico Broshears ’10, vice president of external relations at Ascend Indiana, a job-matching platform; Mary Kay Huse ’02, co-founder and chief executive officer of Mandolin, a livestreaming concert platform; Mike Langellier ’04, president and CEO of Techpoint, a growth initiative for Indiana’s technology industry; and R.J. Talyor ’02, founder and CEO of Pattern89, which recently was acquired by Shutterstock.
