Emergency Tests & Drills
Emergency Response and Evacuation Testing
Fire and Emergency Evacuation Drills are conducted in all Residence Halls (with occupancy of 15 or more residents) and Greek Living Units at or near the beginning of each semester. Drills are conducted by the DePauw Police Department, Greencastle Fire Department and Facilities Management. After each drill, the residents are reassembled and an evaluation of the drill is presented. Discussions include any safety issues arising during the drill, total time and compliance with evacuation, safe building evacuation procedures, alarm notification procedures, learning the locations and basic use of extinguishers, common fire safety issues such as candles, open heat sources, overloaded power strips/cords, etc. Each drill is documented with date, time and circumstances.
