Information for incoming & current students regarding applying for housing

Our residential experience is progressive by class year with different types of living communities that complement students' in-class learning. Immersion within these inclusive communities enhances each student's intellectual exploration and personal development, linking liberal arts education with life's work.

Returning Students

Only students who are currently enrolled at DePauw and intend to return for the fall term are eligible to receive the fall housing application. The fall housing application, available in Residence, should be completed by all students who have access to the application, including those who intend to reside in a chapter facility, participate in an approved off-campus program, or withdraw from the university.  The Fall 2025 housing application deadline is February 28, 2025 at 12:00 PM EST. The housing selection process itself for university-owned housing will occur the week following Spring Break. Students who are currently not enrolled at DePauw University but intend to return for the fall term must work with the Registrar's Office to confirm their enrollment. Once Housing and Residence Life receives a student's readmittance letter, the staff will connect with the student regarding their fall housing assignment. 

Incoming Students

All first-year students reside in residence halls with students from diverse backgrounds. Students become accustomed to a new community, exploring their personal interests, adapting to teaching methods at the collegiate level, and learning from each other in ways most have not experienced before. Students learn together, in a community setting, while living at school. Through their first-year experience students learn to cope with the transition to college and grow into an independent adult.

Incoming students will receive access to the housing application within two weeks of submitting their enrollment deposit. Students will be notified via email when the application is available for them to complete. In the housing application, students will complete their roommate matching profile, submit their building and floor type preferences, and indicate interest in our intentional communities and living learning communities (LLCs). Once students have submitted their housing applications, they can then create a roommate group with someone they know and would like to reside with or search for a potential roommate within their student housing portals.
