Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) at DePauw University support various community types within traditional residence halls and apartment-style housing. Resident Assistants are student leaders who are passionate about and committed to positively contributing to developing healthy, inclusive student communities within residential spaces. Working along Housing and Residence Life Coordinators, Resident Assistants implement a co-curriculum that outlines a series of programs that provide important resources, involvement and community development opportunities throughout the academic year. Additionally, Resident Assistants help manage residential spaces and uphold residential and university policies.  

Hiring Process

Housing and Residence Life seeks to hire a diverse group of student leaders each academic year as Resident Assistants. Housing and Residence Life seeks leaders who are passionate about and committed to positively contributing to the development of healthy, inclusive residence hall communities. The Resident Assistant position is for the fall and spring terms of the applicable year with the option to add a Winter Term appointment. The position commences with intensive education and development in August 2025. All Resident Assistants are supervised by professional staff members who work in the Housing & Residence Life Office.

General QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE Resident Assistant POSITION

Resident Assistant candidates must be enrolled students for the current academic year and must be at least a first-semester sophomore for the upcoming fall term. Candidates must be in good academic standing (2.75 GPA or higher) and are expected to maintain a 2.75 GPA or higher during their time in the position should they be hired. Additionally, candidates must be in good standing with DePauw University and cannot be on any form of university probation or suspension.

The Resident Assistant hiring process for the 2025-2026 academic year is now closed. Thank you to all students who expressed interest in the position! 

Those interested in the Resident Assistant position must attend one (1) interest session in order to apply. Interest Sessions are designed to help students learn more detailed information about the application process and the Resident Assistant position to determine if the role is a good fit. The application will only be made available to students who attend an interest session. In order to complete the application, candidates will need three (3) recommendations in addition to the application itself.

  • One from a DePauw University faculty member
  • One from a DePauw University faculty or administrative/staff member
  • One from a current Housing and Residence Life Resident Assistant 

More information regarding interest sessions for 2026-2027 applicants will be available during the fall term of the upcoming academic year.
